New Cities Foundation

Mathieu Lefevre has been the Executive Director of the Foundation since it was created in 2010. He oversees the Foundation’s strategy and fundraising and its day to day operations. He has led Foundation projects on e-health with the City of Rio, GE and Cisco and on connected commuting with Ericsson and Waze in the city of San Jose, California. He played a key role in the design of the Foundation's events including the New Cities Summit, Cityquest and Cities on the Move and our Fellowship programs. Previously, he worked for the World Bank in the area of governance and as a political officer for the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations. Mathieu is a graduate of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and of the London School of Economics. He is a citizen of France and the US and has published articles in The Economist magazine, the Foundation for Strategic Research, Les Clés de Demain, the French Almanac of International Relations and the Afghanistan Analysts Network. Mathieu frequently speaks at events on cities, innovation and governance. Mathieu is a city enthusiast – with a particular interest in street food.
