Co-Principal Investigator


Etienne Turpin is the Co-Principal Investigator of, Indonesia. He is a philosopher studying, designing, curating, and writing about complex urban systems, political economies of data and infrastructure, aesthetics and visual culture, and Southeast Asia’s colonial-scientific history. He is also a Vice-Chancellor's Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the SMART Infrastructure Facility at the University of Wollongong and an Associate Research Fellow at the Australian Center for Cultural Environmental Research.

PetaJakarta is an open source, community-led platform to collect and disseminate information about flooding and critical water infrastructure in Jakarta. The applied research project is led by the SMART Infrastructure Facility, in collaboration with BPBD DKI Jakarta and Twitter Inc. harnesses the power of social media to gather, sort, and display information about flooding for Jakarta residents in real time.
